My two little Brownies Ida and Freya, had decided to help my Girl Guide Gitta, gain merits towards her nature badge. Gitta thought a spot of fishing would get them started.

IMG_5501

Ida tried to land a creature she had managed to catch. Freya attempted to catch it in the net.

IMG_5504

“What on earth is it?” Freya said. “It’s an octopus” says Gitta, ” I don’t know how it managed to get in the pond, but I am sure the fish will be happy that it is no longer in there.”

IMG_5505

Suddenly the wind picked up and the girls thought it best to leave the fishing for another day.Ā  The girls moved on to have a look at flowers and plants.

IMG_5508

This is a pretty plant, lets see if we can pick a flower to press for our collection?

IMG_5507

On second thoughts I don’t think rocky is happy with us taking flowers from the garden, just stand still and I am sure he will be on his way.

Gitta decided that as they had their lovely radio, which was a gift from Auntie Kendal, that after all their hard work, they should just listen to music and have some fun, which they did.

IMG_5473

I have waited a long time to have one of these girls in The Sasha Emporium family. She is a very early large head, ochre eyed Gotz Sasha doll, with a no seam body.

IMG_5481

IMG_5484

IMG_5485

As you can see from the photos above she is in very good condition, lovely long hair, no seamed body and Sasha logo on her back.

IMG_5473

she has beautiful face paint and I have to say a big thank you to Petrana for bringing her home for me and also making her the wonderful outfit that she is wearing.

Petrana makes wonderful clothes for Sasha dolls and if you have not seen her latest collection , it can be found at:Ā https://www.sasha-doll.com/

This is Peter a very handsome Boy course doll that I brought back from the Swiss Toy fair a while ago. He is a really lovely boy with beautiful green eyes and freckles. He has a human hair wig which is in good condition and I have kept it so by conditioning it. His tricot is in excellent condition with no holes or tares. It is a reluctant sale, but it is time for him to move onto a new home.

Peter will come in the beautifully made outfit by Ruth dolls, which really suits him I think. He will also bring along his original handmade outfit. His original outfit consists of cream dungaree’s and green top, and also a pair of off-white leather shoes that are missing a lace. Please look at all the photos for a full description and ask any questions you may have?

To this………..

IMG_5420

I harvested hair from the back of her head to created a single fringe and then matched new hair into the plugs at the back

IMG_5414

I think she looks much better, what do you think?

oh, and as it is shoes week, she is wearing a very early pair of JJ shoes.

I emailed Susanna Lewis a few months ago asking if she had ever produced a knitting pattern for the early knitted Cora outfit. Cora’s original white outfit does not come along very often and when it does due to its age, can be out of shape.

I was delighted when Susanna sent me a copy of aĀ  knitted Cora outfit that she had created. Not only that but she offers it for free on her wonderful website.

http://www.sashadoll.com/

Susanna said that she would like to see what people did with the pattern, so I have taken up the challenge.

First up is my first attempt at the Cora outfit, which I thoroughly enjoyed knitting, the pattern has a stitch called fisherman’sĀ  rib, which I have never tried before and now I am hooked, so to speak.

IMG_5382

IMG_5384

IMG_5386

Next I decided to try a different colour, going for a light green and cream. The beret is from Jane Woodbridge’s, wonderful knitting book , which can be purchased from Shelly’s site.

https://www.sashadolluk.co.uk/dolls-for-sale-4/

IMG_5361

IMG_5353

IMG_5364

Next I decided to go bold and bright. I added a little hat that is my own design.

IMG_5366

IMG_5367

Next I decided to do something different combining Susanna’s pattern, and using the fisherman’s rib to create flared trousers for this Jimmy Hendrix outfit.

IMG_5379

IMG_5376

IMG_5378

IMG_5377

Now I was really getting into thisĀ  challenge and decided to make shorts and top with flared edges.

IMG_5341

IMG_5342

IMG_5339

Being inspired by Diane Duke I created a little shawl to go with the ensemble.

IMG_5351

IMG_5346

My last ensemble is a little flared skirt and picot edge top.

IMG_5328

IMG_5332

IMG_5326

Another Diane Duke inspired shawl.

IMG_5336

IMG_5337

Here they are all together.

IMG_5394

I have really enjoyed making these outfits and it would be interesting to see what others come up with too.

A big thank you to Susanna Lewis for creating the pattern.

As the long awaited sunshine broke through i decide it was about time i did some pottering about. i decided to go to Dunstable Downs which is in Bedfordshire. It is part of the Chilterns and has some beautiful views and woodland areas.

IMG_5251

As you can see the view are lovely and the strange metal object is actually anĀ  environmentally friendly ventilation system for the visitor centre.

IMG_5254

I particularly enjoyed the woodland area.

IMG_5263

A better view from up here

IMG_5262

IMG_5256

I love trees and nature

IMG_5267IMG_5266

looking through the fence i can see Chute wood.

IMG_5268

Now just to open the gate

IMG_5269

IMG_5273

I found another beautiful tree to climb

IMG_5277

IMG_5276

look at this a natural bird bath

IMG_5281

Another tree to sit in and take in the wonderful views

IMG_5286

I need to move along

IMG_5262

What’s this i have found?

IMG_5287

Could it be a fairy door?

IMG_5288

Knock , Knock, oh well, nobody is home.

IMG_5289

Off into the woods, i do feel a bit like little red Riding Hood, but i don’t think there are any wolves in here.

IMG_5302

After the long winter the vegetation is starting to spring up.

IMG_5303

looks like the woodworms have been busy.

IMG_5304

In the woods there are lots of things for children to play on , which have been made out of fallen trees.

IMG_5307

IMG_5308

IMG_5314

What’s this O and X’s , i think i will try that.

IMG_5319

This little seating area reminds me of The Three Bears story, i wonder if i can sit on this chair

IMG_5313

IMG_5321

Made it.

IMG_5310

Time i headed back i think

I hope you have enjoyed my visit to Dunstable Downs, but please remember if you are planning a visit in the near future that.
